The launch of Global Net Zero Summit rescheduled to take place in 2022

16 August 2021, London - The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Informa Markets have made the difficult decision to reschedule the launch of the inaugural edition of the Global Net Zero Summit to 2022.

As a high-level event committed to delivering the highest quality international speakers to a global audience, the two organsiations made the decision to postpone the event due to ongoing travel restrictions. This unique event was not simply your standard industry conference, but rather an important platform to build a community of stakeholders from across different sectors to raise ambition and achieve the world’s net zero goals. The ever-changing travel restrictions would hinder important members of this new community to come together, and the organisers want the event to be as inclusive as possible.

The journey towards net zero is a global one. With worldwide travel restrictions still in play, the sentiment from already confirmed speakers and stakeholders has indicated that a postponement of the launch would allow for the greatest opportunity to host a conference that supports all stakeholders, as they work towards delivering a truly international net zero agenda.

Events have already started up again to great success, and the new 2022 dateline will allow the Global Net Zero Summit to host a gathering of minds from across the world that supports the ongoing commitment to tackling climate change.

With COP26 on the horizon, GWEC and Informa Markets, through other co-organised events such as Vietnam Wind Power and other media channels, will continue to exchange knowledge and build networks in key regions and countries to provide ongoing support in the global drive towards a clean energy future.

The 2022 date and location for the launch of Global Net Zero Summit will be shared at a later date.

About the Global Net Zero SummitAs governments and business globally seek to meet ambitious climate goals and commit to delivering net zero targets by 2050, the Global Net Zero Summit provides a platform for the public and private sector to connect and share insights and solutions on how these targets will be achieved. This event will also look at how governments are driving the agenda through policy and regulatory frameworks and how investors are making their decisions to support this green transition. Leaders from across different communities and disciplines will be convened on a common platform to take stock of the widening gap between necessary policy interventions and market realities.
